I am passionate about building successful businesses that have the capacity to transform people’s lives. However, my experience as Head of Governance of Philips Lighting has taught me that the real challenge is not starting a business, but maintaining and sustaining relevancy over the long-term. The opportunity to share my ideas with policymakers, business leaders and university students around the world - as Professor of Business & Financial Law at Tilburg University - has made me realize that it is all about understanding product, people, process.

What kind of corporate culture do firms need to put in place in order to attract the most talented employees who will shape the future of the firm? And what organizational processes are best placed to deliver meaningful products? Operating in the space between “law” and “business” gives me the opportunity to find “strategic legal solutions” that help find answers to these questions.
