モFor the first time, we are giving recognition to an individual in the ASEAN region who had contributed immensely in the promotion of Corporate Governance and Minority Rights in his/ her country. We are pleased to state that MSWG has nominated Mr David Gerald, the Founder , President and CEO of SIAS for this recognition. The Award is called モ Investor Watchdog Peer Recognition 2014ヤ. The Adjudicating Committee agreed unanimously. The peer recognition is to foster greater relations amongst peers for the better protection of investors in the region,ヤ Ms Rita Benoy Bushon, CEO, MSWG.
It was just 15 years ago, when Mr David Gerald set up SIAS, with a group of civic minded individuals, to fight Malaysia on the CLOB crisis. Since then SIAS has grown to a membership of nearly 70,000 members and has advanced the cause of minority shareholderメs rights and championing corporate governance.
With a unique, ムin the boardroom and not the court roomメ approach to managing disputes and maintaining the investor relations peace in Singapore, SIAS has, under his leadership, successfully resolved several shareholder issues, which are all well documented.
モI am humbled by this award and am pleased that the work I have done at SIAS is recognized by an ASEAN partner. I hope our work will encourage responsible shareholder activism in ASEAN to push for better corporate governance,ヤ David Gerald, President and CEO, SIAS.
