Hyflux Ltd is the first water company to be listed on SGX and it has today grown into a leading global corporation with operations spanning Southeast Asia, China and Middle East and North Africa. Hyflux also recently won the bid – amidst intense global competition from US, Europe and Japan – to build the world’s largest desalination plant in Algeria. In December 2007, Hyflux launched the first pure-play global water trust to be listed on SGX – Hyflux Water Trust (HWT). It enables investors to invest in water-related infrastructure assets in the global markets. Since its listing, its initial portfolio of water plants has increased significantly by 45% resulting in more than 1 million m3/ day capacity. Hyflux is focused on its asset-light strategy and HWT is one of such initiatives that can help unlock investor value. In Quarter 2, 2008, Hyflux’s profit quadrupled to S$22.6m. |
