“Today, SIAS is presenting the prestigious Singapore Corporate Governance Excellence Award to Mr. JY Pillay, Chairman, Singapore Exchange, for providing outstanding leadership in the development and promotion of corporate governance in Singapore. In his leadership role at the Singapore Exchange, he encouraged good corporate governance principles to all Listed Companies in Singapore. He himself lead an exemplary role at Singapore Exchange in breaking new grounds in corporate governance practices for a Listed Company.
As Chairman of the Singapore Council on Corporate Disclosure and Governance in 2002, he guided the formation of the first Singapore Corporate Governance Code and it’s refinements in 2005.
These initiatives have, no doubt, helped build Singapore’s reputation as a leading financial centre for corporate governance in Asia.
SIAS, on behalf of the retail investors in Singapore would, therefore, like to honour Mr. JY Pillay this morning by presenting the Singapore Corporate Governance Excellence Award.“
