An Investor Perspective

Chew Chin Yee joined Singapore Exchange (SGX) on 1 August 2008. He heads the Regulatory Development and Policy (RDP) function as well as the Strategic Planning Office (SPO) within Singapore Exchange Regulation.

Mr Chew and the RDP team are responsible for policy formulation, engagement with the Monetary Authority of Singapore on regulatory matters, and the tracking of local and international regulatory developments. They administer Singapore Exchange’s trading and clearing rules and the group’s framework for the management of self-regulatory organisation conflicts.

With the SPO team, Mr Chew drives SGX RegCo’s strategic planning, anticipates trends and risks to shape the regulatory landscape of our markets. The team actively collaborates with internal and external stakeholders (such as industry participants) to address the challenges of operating in a fast-changing and international environment.

Prior to SGX, Mr Chew was an Assistant Registrar with the Supreme Court of Singapore, a Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Attorney General’s Chambers and a Justices’ Law Clerk at Singapore’s Supreme Court.

Mr Chew is an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore and holds a law degree from the University of Oxford.
