SIAS is pleased to announce that Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam, former President, has kindly accepted our invitation to become the first Chief Patron of SIAS with effect from 12 October 2017.
Our constitution provides for the appointment of a Chief Patron, “who shall be a distinguished person who has been outstanding in his contributions to the betterment of Singapore”. Whilst this provision has been there since 1999, this is the first time SIAS is appointing a Chief Patron.
Dr Tan is a distinguished statesman, who has been outstanding in his contributions to the betterment of Singapore and SIAS is indeed honoured to have him as our first Chief Patron. We are certain that, with his support, SIAS would be able to soar to greater heights.
