Date: July 3, 2016

SIAS is pleased to announce that Mr Tan Pheng Hock, President & CEO of ST Engineering Ltd, has been appointed to be its Distinguished Honorary Member. Mr Tan now joins four other Distinguished Honorary Members of SIAS – Mr JY Pillay, Mr Lim Chee Onn, Mr Hsieh Fu Hua and Mr Liew Mun Leong.

SIAS has conferred Mr Tan Pheng Hock the Distinguished Honorary Member status in recognition of his continued strong support for SIAS’ investor education programme to educate the retail investing public and the community at large.

His appointment is by virtue of clause 4.2 of SIAS Constitution which reads:

“The Management Committee may invite persons distinguished in public life or who have made significant contributions to the Securities Industry or to the Association to be Honorary Members for such period as it shall deem fit. An Honorary Member shall not be required to pay any entrance fee or monthly subscription but shall be entitled to enjoy all the facilities of the Association. An Honorary Member shall not have the right to vote or hold office as a member of the Management Committee.”

“Distinguished Honorary Members play an important role for SIAS. Besides being strong supporters of it’s major objective to educate retail investors in Singapore, they also assist SIAS by providing advice and guidance ensuring relevance in today’s market environment. ST Engineering Ltd under the leadership of Mr Tan Pheng Hock as the CEO, is one of the pioneer supporters of SIAS’ Investor Education Programmes since Yr 2002 as he is a strong believer in an educated investing community. To-date, SIAS has organized over 1000 investor education programmes with about 145,000 Singaporeans benefitting largely from the heartlands. This would not have been possible at all without the strong financial support from the listed companies and SGX and they, like ST Engineering, continue to support our activities in educating retail investors. With more support, SIAS can reach out to more citizens.” said Mr David Gerald.

“I am pleased with the relationship between ST Engineering and SIAS over the years, and in the active role we played in educating Singapore’s investing public. I personally believe that individual investors will make sound investment decisions when they have the knowledge of essentials of investing, especially in times of market volatility like now,” said Mr Tan Pheng Hock.
