SINGAPORE, SEPTEMBER 13, 2024 – Securities Investors Association (Singapore) (“SIAS”), a strong advocate for corporate governance and progressive industry practices aimed at protecting and safeguarding shareholder interests, will host its annual flagship Corporate Governance Week (“CG Week 2024”) through a hybrid of in-person and virtual programmes. The upcoming flagship event will kick off at the Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay and will be held between September 16 – 19, 2024. A diverse group of global thought leaders and leading practitioners from Asia-Pacific, the United Kingdom, and Europe will helm the thought-provoking discussions.

This year’s launch of CG Week 2024 will see the Opening Address by Guest-of-Honour Mr Chee Hong Tat, Minister for Transport, Second Minister for Finance and Deputy Chairman, Monetary Authority of Singapore, following the welcome address by SIAS’ Founder, President & CEO, Mr David Gerald.
The presentations and panel discussions for CG Week 2024 will be delivered over a key conference in addition to three forums from September 16 – 19, 2024, with the key conference themed: “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Corporate Governance and Sustainability on Key Stakeholders.”
Over 100 companies and 300 individuals are expected to participate in the in-person key conference. The event will feature a series of presentations and panel discussions with participation from industry leaders, covering topics on Integrating AI with Long-Term Sustainability of an Organisation, Climate and Supply Chain Governance.
The conference will spotlight presentations helmed by distinguished international and local thought leaders including Mr Carmine Di Noia, Director for Financial and Enterprise Affairs, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (“OECD”), Dr Roger Barker, Director of Policy & Corporate Governance, Institute of Directors (IoD), UK, Dr Parag Khanna, Founder & CEO, AlphaGeo, Mr Ritin Mathur, Partner, Consulting – AI and Data Analytics, Ernst & Young Advisory Pte Ltd, and Mr Lee Bing Yi, Partner, Sustainability & Climate Change, PwC Singapore.
The highly topical and relevant discussion on AI in Boardrooms will delve into the emerging role of AI in boardrooms and how AI can aid in decision-making at the highest levels of a corporation, as well as the potential implications it has for board composition, dynamics, and governance practices. Experts will also debate whether companies should continue exploring how ESG is reshaping business strategies and enhancing stakeholder engagement, or there is a growing sense of ESG Fatigue in ESG – The Impact on the Corporate Strategy, or Combat the Fatigue?

Investors’ Choice Awards
SIAS will also be presenting 83 winners in recognition of excellence in companies and individuals for adopting the best ESG & corporate governance practices at the in-person Investors’ Choice Awards 2024 on September 17, 2024 at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore. The Guest-of-Honour will be President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
SIAS is cognizant that investors are increasingly interested in understanding the ESG risks companies are exposed to, how these risks are managed, and the progress made in achieving sustainability targets. Essentially, for the benefit of investors, SIAS has collaborated with NUS-CGS and its industry partners, to establish an award scorecard and methodology to capture the substance of good corporate governance for listed companies in Singapore.
Corporate Governance Forums 1 & 2
The Corporate Governance Forums will take place virtually on September 18 and 19, 2024. Forum 1 will feature distinguished moderator and panellists including Mr Dinesh Dayani, Co-Founder, DollarsAndSense, Dr David Smith, Senior Investment Director, abrdn, Mr Chew Chin Yee, Managing Director, Head of Regulatory Development and Policy/Strategic Planning Office/Enforcement, Singapore Exchange Regulation, Mr TK Yap, Honorary Advisor, SIAS and Mr Rajesh Sreenivasan, Head, Technology, Media & Telecommunications Law, Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP.

Investor Forum
The CG Week will end with an engaging presentation held on September 18, 2024, on the topic – Introduction to Green and Sustainable Investing. Moderated by Mr Loh Uantchern, Vice President, SIAS, the panel will discuss in-depth navigating the green finance landscape and positioning portfolios for a positive environmental and social impact.
